The Sandra Andrade Bequest Story
Sandra Andrade was a woman with developmental disabilities who received Family Support services from The Arc of Northern Bristol County. Planning ahead, her parents met with The Arc to design a trust that would continue to provide for Sandra's special needs when they passed on. As a result, this special needs trust continued to provide the funds that enable Sandra to enjoy a high quality of life, while continuing to receive her benefits and supportive services within the community. Sadly, Sandra passed away in 2003. As the Andrade Family had planned, the remaining funds in the trust were gifted to The Arc of Northern Bristol County.

In 2005, with this $150,000 gift, The Arc of Northern Bristol County was able to purchase our first permanent home in 47 years. Our new headquarters is located at 141 Park Street in Attleboro, MA and is home to our services and offices. Funding is now needed to renovate and make the entire building accessible and ADA compliant. Once accomplished, The Arc of Northern Bristol County will have as additional 3,200 square feet of wonderful space to provide a wide array of social, educational, life enrichment, and supportive activities to enhance the quality of life for over 1,200 children and adults and their families. Please join with us to continue the legacy that Sandra Andrade and her family started. Your support of our capital campaign will truly make a difference.

Our Plans for the Donations
Our capital campaign is to raise $1,138,880 over the next three years, will enable us to accomplish the following projects.

Make 141 Park Street, Attleboro, Massachusetts, our first permanent home, fully accessible. This will provide an additional 3,200 square feet of program space! To do this, we must:
• Add an enclosed, attached elevator to provide access to the basement level.
• Build an accessible bathroom on the basement level.
• Reconstruct and widen the wheelchair ramp.
• Replace the floor and paint the walls in the basement.

Expand our capacity to provide services by:
• Paying down our $600,000 mortgage debt, thus decreasing occupancy costs so we can utilize the entire basement for programs rather than renting out space to offset costs.
• Purchase two accessible wheelchair vans; one for each for our recreation and residential services.
• Provide a down-payment to purchase permanent space for our Taunton Area Resource Center's Educational, Recreational, and Life Enrichment Services.

Once we accomplish the above, we will be able to:
• Provide classes for the 1,200 children and adults whom we serve, and their families in basic literacy skills, the arts, theater, crafts, computers, dance, and other life enrichment activities.
• Provide training and resources for families to understand how to navigate the service delivery system and access services.
• Provide space for families to meet and support one another.
• Provide respite for families and recreational activities for children and adults.
• Involve more community members with our organization in a variety of community activities that include people with developmental disabilities and their families.
• Serve as a recruitment and training center for student interns who wish to enter the human services field.
• Provide space for after-school and child care programs for children with disabilities.
• Provide classes for adults to increase their job skills, improve their finances, and enhance opportunities for employment and community volunteer placements.
• Provide larger conference room space for employee training, family support, and meetings.
• Provide better storage capacity for our files, equipment, and materials.
• Remain centrally located to populations that we serve.
• Provide parking for our families and employees.
• Provide greater capacity to serve our community.
